Why Mike? Passion & Purpose
I’m a curious and creative teacher with a passion for learning. My favourite part of teaching is connecting with my students. I’ve been a teacher since 2002 and I’ve found purpose working in teaching and education development. Bringing design skills and thinking to my work elevates my teaching. I’m proud that in 2017 my education website won an innovation award from TESL Canada.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Taught ESL English with CCCLS, Centennial College, George Brown College, University of Toronto (2002-present)
- Developed & instructed courses at Story Arts Centre, Centennial College (2017-present)
- Established a successful academic English tutoring business (2018-present)

Summer 2023
Instructed teenage international students in main skills including reading, writing, speaking, listening and vocabulary,
- created a 4 week curriculum including a student independent study project
- planned lessons and activities for each class
- utilized online materials (ESL library) and developed new materials from scratch
- collaborated with other teachers by coordinating lesson plans and document sharing
- Submitted weekly curriculum reports

- Instructed general reading, writing, vocabulary, speaking, and listening skills classes
- Implemented curriculum and developed materials according to CLB / PBLA guidelines and school requirements
- Innovated by introducing beginner students to digital skills (presentations, computers)
- Collaborated with other teachers via professional development opportunities
- Also led CALL Workshop facilitator for TESL program (2009-2011)
